It’s a common practice with
different names—it’s called “
pre-gaming” or “pre-partying” in
Canada, “pre-funking” in Europe
and “having prinks” in the U.K.
Regardless of moniker or location, it
Nobody wins at ‘pre-gaming’
Drinking layered on drinking has a cost
means the same thing: young adults
loading up on drinks before they
head out to bars or parties.
“Bars are way too expensive,
especially for students,” explains
Liam Marshall, 19, a university
student in Calgary. “You can spend
a ridiculous amount of money on
drinks without even noticing.” So
instead, Marshall and a few friends
will split a 24 of beer before they
head to the bar for even more drinks.
Young adults can reduce their risk of exposure to dangerous situations by knowing and staying within their drinking limits.
