Our Passion for Health column celebrates inspiring Albertans who are committed to improving the
health and well-being of people in their communities.

Nominees for the Fall 2014 issue are:
Danielle is the executive director of the Interfaith Food Bank Society of
Lethbridge, with more than 15 years’ experience in the non-profit sector.
She encourages families that use the food bank to participate in cooking classes
and garden activities because she believes everyone deserves a healthy meal.
For more than 11 years, Adam has worked in social services. He helped develop
the Calgary Downtown Outreach Addictions Partnership Team to make sure
clients receive the support and services they need. As the outreach coordinator
at Alpha House Calgary, Adam loves to come up with solutions to help people
living with substance abuse lead healthier lives.
An area manager at Alberta Health Services’ Camrose Addiction and Mental
Health Clinic for 30 years, Brenda has helped to remove the stigma of mental
illness in her community. She is an advocate for integrating addiction and
mental health services.
Debbie’s career at The SPEC Association for Children and Families in Brooks
began in 1981. She feels she’s grown up there: she began as a volunteer and is
now the executive director. She believes in healthy communities, families and
helping youth build resiliency so they reach their potential.
Capri is the clinical administration manager at Aventa Addiction Treatment
for Women in Calgary. Her 18-year career includes working with women with
addictions, helping to prevent FASD, HIV/AIDS and reducing homelessness
in Alberta. She works with community partners to help clients connect to the
services they need to reach their individual goals.
For more than 20 years, Darline has supported the Northern Lights Health
Foundation because she’s passionate about helping people and improving
health-care services in her community. She helps her staff understand the
importance of patients’ emotional and psychological well-being, as case
management lead at Northern Lights Regional Health Centre in Fort McMurray.
