Name and Age: Walter Watson, 51
Health condition: I was overweight, 338pounds, and I had uncontrolled diabetes. Myblood sugar was through the roof and one ofmy knees hurt.
Health goal: I wanted to lose weight and getmy blood sugar levels down.
How I feel now: I’ve lost 60 pounds. I’meating better and going to the gym threetimes a week to ride the bike for 40 minutesand do weight training. I’m feeling a lotbetter, more active. And with the help ofthe medication, my blood sugar is down byalmost half.
Working together: Walter has been apleasure to work with. As part of our HeartHealth Program, he enrolled in a medicallysupervised exercise program to safelyand effectively increase his activity levels.We created goals and assessed barriersaround physical activity. I met with himone-on-one to help him start training withweights, which helped him manage his kneepain. He’s making great progress towardsimproved fitness for weight and diabetesmanagement.
