reacting to the grieving
Navigating what to do and say is difficult for both mourners
and those around them. Listening is key, says Rev. Bob
Glasgow, co-ordinator of AHS’ Grief Support Program.
When reaching out to grieving individuals, refrain from
giving advice, trying to cheer them up or keeping them
busy. Ask how you can help and keep your presence and
assistance ongoing beyond the immediate death.
if you’re grieving, tell supporters what kind of help you
need. Be clear when you need solitude and build in a broad
range of support rather than relying solely on one person.
